Questions are never a bother! :D Retro Makeup is actually a really fantastic book for that kind of thing! We sell it at work so I’ve gotten to leaf through it when it’s slow and it’s got really accurate looks for the 1920s as well as other eras.
20s daywear makeup is MUCH simpler than what we often see in 1920s inspired looks. more modern interpretations seem to pull ideas mostly from silent film makeup, which, naturally, was much heavier than what the average woman would wear, even for evening.
I wish I knew of a 1920s makeup tumblog! If anyone out there knows, please tell us!
BANDWAGON WAIT FOR ME
one of my coworkers asked me today how I got my makeup so perfect
achievement unlocked: Winged Eyeliner
a girl with a cute accent came into my store yesterday and bought some stockings because her cat tore up her other pair
and she had the MOST AWESOME eye makeup ever
it was bright blue on the corners and it blended in toward the center of her eyes
and then she’d drawn three dots around the outside of her eye, like in a triangular shape
I wish I had thought to ask for a picture because it was so subtle but so lovely and awesome
Mary, if you read this, COME BACK YOU SEEM REALLY COOL
A guide to Lolita makeup for different ethnicities scanned from the English G&LB.
Not bad. Would be interesting to do a toned-down look with a similar or peach blush and white “freckles”…

okay best eyelash glue guys?
Galaxy eyes!!! I used colors from my BH 88-color cool shimmer cosmetics palette, Sugarpill Bulletproof to add depth to the outer corners, Hot Topic ‘Monster’ glitter eyeliner all over and Milani Color Play white liquid eyeliner to draw the stars!
I got my second tube of Retrofuturist in the mail yesterday. The first one I ordered probably about…2 years ago; it’s not even in my LC purchase history anymore…! but here’s the 2 year old tube compared with the brand new one.
That poor old tube got so beat up…the plastic cracked and the silver wore off, but it’s the first lipstick I’ve ever used up completely. I get compliments on it all the time at work.
