Dark Mori Checklist- There is a dark side to most fairy tales, after all.
I was inspired to expand on dark mori a bit more yesterday, after I heard that people liked it enough to consider a Livejournal group, and I came up with a list of things that a dark mori girl might be fond of- hobbies, colors, scents, etc.
now OBVIOUSLY you don’t have to like all these things to ‘be’ dark mori. but I was thinking of what an example dark mori girl might look like, so I came up with a list; it reminds me a little of that Mixi mori girl checklist with how it bounces around, so I’m gonna type it up a bit like that…! Enjoy!
You enjoy watching silent films
Countries you would like to visit are places like Russia, Italy, Greece, Romania, Turkey, etc- Basically the areas that the Roman Empire once had under its control
magic and the occult captivates you, even if you do not practice it
solitude is pleasant for you
learning to appreciate and enjoy alcohol might be fun for you- some favorites might be merlot, gin-based drinks, and very classic, almost forgotten cocktails
you like trying unique and full-flavored teas
mossy, mushroomy and moist forests like those of the Northwest USA are your favorite kind of forest
You’re an odd mix of vampy yet innocent- you have “IT” (as in Elinor Glyn’s definition: “It” is that quality possessed by some which draws all others with its magnetic force. With “It” you win all men if you are a woman and all women if you are a man. Self-confidence and indifference whether you are pleasing or not and something in you that gives the impression that you are not at all cold.”
you lean toward all grey tones in an outfit, much like the normal mori girl wears shades of cream and white
you like romantic goth styles, but feel they’re a little too fussy and complicated for you. You prefer more of a dark simplicity
You do not consider yourself sad, dramatic or evil; only fascinated with the death aspect of life. You see it as two sides of the same coin and treat it with a light sense of humor that might disturb some people
You prefer “dusty” dark colors rather than brights or pastels
You emulate 1910s and 20s film stars like Nita Naldi, Musidora, Theda Bara, Alla Nazimova, and Pola Negri by darkening and lengthening your thick eyebrows to curve downwards and thick mascara
Beauty patches are a common part of your makeup routine
Some favorite scents, flavors, or perfumes have the following in them: orange, clove, vanilla, chai, moss, patchouli, rose, leather, violet, sage, anise, cinnamon, honey, rosemary, sandalwood, lavender, etc
you can often be found in antique stores or quiet old book stores. You find yourself collecting old books simply based on the beauty of the covers
your living space is decorated with Pre-Raphaelite art and old map prints
I also personally don’t think that one needs to only wear one style ever- please don’t feel like you can’t wear normal mori girl some days and dark mori on others; fashion’s all about what you feel and exploring different facets of yourself. Explore, be creative, HAVE FUN.
