The only film I point to as “favorite-of-all-time.”
I vacillate between this or Road Warrior.
I tell people that Blade Runner is my favourite movie, but that statement really downplays just how much I love it.
I can wax poetic about how it’s one of the last great true analog special effects sci-fi movies, I can rave about Harrison Ford’s performance (despite, or because of, the fact that he was miserable working on the project), I can rant about neo-noir retro-futurism and decaying planets and fears of globalization and how terrifying Rutger Hauer is for hours. Hours.
But that makes people look at me funny and go “Amber, it’s just a movie. STFU.”
Also, the book is really good. So.
the last time I saw it was about 3 years ago and was probably my earliest introduction to cyberpunk media (although I was aware of its existence prior). I should probably see it again!
